Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays each month. It is also offered on other occasions such as Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and more! If you have questions about receiving Holy Communion, please ask. Communion is a unique gift from God with blessings to all who believe.

BACK TO SCHOOL FESTIVAL held August 16.
While storms rolled in, they didn’t stop families from coming to St. John for the school supply give away. The inflatables needed to be cancelled but the Kona Ice truck and popcorn machine was popping! 82 back packs were given along with over 400 pencils, 95 pencil cases, numerous dry erase markers, boxes and boxes of crayons and more items to try to help children in our area prepare for a great school year!
CRAFTERS ARE INVITED TO HOST A TABLE AT OUR VERY FIRST CRAFT FAIR! The date is Saturday, November 7.
Tables are $30 for a six foot table, $40 for an eight foot table. Contact the church office for a vendor application. YOU can help this to be a HUGE success!
On September 10, our gym and Youth Center will once again open for youth in Garfield Heights and surrounding communities. We still need to have more adult supervisors. Contact Karen at the church 216-587-4222 or email sjlutheran@att.net to set up an interview time. ALL ADULT SUPERVISORS must be over 21 years, be interviewed, submit to a background check and expect to be regular in attendance to help. The gym and Youth Center will be open on Thursdays. 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. for 4th – 8th grade students and 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. for high school students. ALL YOUTH must be attending school. It’s a new school year so the first time a youth comes, a parent must come to fill out a registration form and sign a liability release. The Youth Center will also be open. Mr. Gerry will be on hand to teach or play chess!

Our annual TREAT IN TRUNK is scheduled for Saturday, October 24. Mark your calendar for this fun time! More details to come!
